Their UU is not very remarkable and often subsituted for champion. The fact is that the vikings will be outmatched by any pure archery or cavalry civ that they face, due to inadequacies in these areas. Will a cavalry civ probably beat them? Yes. Do they do well with arbalest and champion? Yes. They are basically the britons at that point, minus the superior archery range, and with beefier infantry. The fact of the matter is that the vikings are unlikely to win the long game due to their lack of final upgrades. Yes, the vikings have a great eco bonus, but it's only good to a point, and in the long game it will matter less. If this were a water match, sure they'd be first, but it isn't. Their potential to kick it into god mode is not really achieved until they reach imperial (when anarchy and perfusion are completed), and until then they are left with normal huskarls (still good raiders) knights (a solid castle staple) and crossbows (another solid castle staple), these are very average unit choices (huskarl exempt), making them not really shine in the castle age except against pure archer civs, they have no real advantage over any cavalry civ (except faster built pikes I suppose), and their sheer unremarkability coupled with poor defense attracts my criticism, but I'll move them to "Good" because they probably deserve it. Goths are a bit of a glass cannon, their lack of walls is a bit annoying, but hey this is arabia where good offense is a good defense. So lets look at some of the sticking points. I may have been a bit harsh towards some civs. If you have any questions or criticisms, I would be happy to address themĮdit: So, some of you are unhappy with my assessment. This does not mean that the "Ehh" are unusable, just be aware that these civs require a good level of knowledge to make them work on Arabia. So there you go, stick to the "Amazing" and "Good" and you should be fine.
